Education Minister Highlights Four Key Factors for Academic Success

Phnom Penh, 18 July 2024: Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports, has outlined a standard model for kindergarten education, emphasizing the importance of early childhood education. This model ensures children receive adequate nutrition and social skill development, preparing them for primary education.

At the primary level, the Ministry focuses on improving the first-grade reading and math curricula to build a strong educational foundation. For secondary and high schools, the Ministry has set five standards: student outcomes, teaching and learning, community involvement, operational process and school administration, and school accountability.

During a meeting with education staff of the Department of Education, Youth, and Sports of Siem Reap Province on the afternoon of July 17, 2024, Dr. Hang Chuon Naron highlighted four essential factors for students to achieve good academic results:

1. School Environment: Good infrastructure, a comfortable setting, and a well-structured curriculum.

2. Teachers: Qualified and professional teachers who meet educational standards.

3. Students: Diligence in schoolwork and adequate external support.

4. Parents: Parental support and trust in education, which is crucial for student success.

"To have strong students, we need strong teachers and strong support from parents and guardians," said Dr. Hang Chuon Naron.

Siem Reap boasts the largest number of model schools, making it a leading province in educational excellence in 2024. This achievement is attributed to the dedicated efforts of education officials, the support of parents and the community, and the hard work of students.
